Complete Gaming PC for 30k
Notes: I'm not much of an AMD or ATI fan nor am I too knowledgable on AMD's processor lineup. I prefer Nvidia graphics card because they have great drivers and I never had a problem with it unlike with a few games and ATI drivers. Prices are approximate and gotten from websites from various computer stores. So the price can go a bit cheaper or a tad more expensive depending on where you shop.
Anyway, here it is. A specsheet for a gaming pc for 30k without much of the tech babble.
The core i3 may not be quad core or has Intel's turbo boost technology (correct me if I'm wrong) but its still quite a performer and adaquate for most tasks you'll throw at it. If you're wondering the core i5 is 2,000 more for the dual-core versiona while the i5 4 core is about 9,000 a big gap to say the least.
Graphics Card: Inno3d GTS250 512mb 256bit P 4,600
Since this is a gaming pc the most important aspect is the graphics card. First things first, don't be fooled by bigger memory equals a better card. No, it doesn't work like that. Things to consider are series, bit and third is memory. What the hell am I saying?
Series means what kind of card it is. A quick guide for you. Nvidia's card has 3 numbers (or 4 for older ones) the 1st number signifies the series (ie 400 is newer than 200, duh) the second number IS IMPORTANT. Let me make it easy by doing a simple table.
Number Meaning
2-3 budget-low performance
4 budget-gaming-low performance
5 budget-gaming-mid performance
8 best performance
That's basically to give you an idea. Now the memory, if you have a monitor that's below 21" 512mb is more than enough. Bit, ok simply there are 2 versions 128bit and 256bit its a measure on how fast the data is transfered or something like that. Go with the 256bit everytime because its.. that's what common sense dictates.
Why Inno3d? Well they're affordable and have good quality. You can also go with Palit. I wouldn't go with anything else. Asus, MSI, Gigabyte are better brands but will cost you way more.
The GTS250 is a great card at a great price. If you can't find one in that store find another store or look for a 9800GT much cheaper better performance but slighlty older. Seriously GTS250 or 9800GT or if you really don't have much of a choice a GT240. Remember this is a gaming pc. Other cards have lower performace and isn't worth the cash.
RAM/Memory: 4GB DDR3 P 4,000
You're probably going to install windows 7 on your new fancy pc. There's one philosophy with ram. The more the better. Don't skimp on the ram. It's useful for multitasking, gaming and all your applications. Seriously 3GB or 4GB and nothing lower. As for brand go with Kingston and Corsair are great brands with affordable rams. Why DDR3? It's the only thing thats compatible with your motherboard and your processor. Oh and it's cheaper now.
Motherboard: Anything that's compatible with core i3 P4,000
Since you're not going to overclock the pc (because you are reading this guide or you don't really know what that means) a basic motherboard is enough. Most motherboard has everything you need like a couple of usb ports, all those plugs, etc. If you want to upgrade your speakers to get surround sound (7.1) then find a board that has ports for those since standard boards get the usual pink, green and some other color. Brand is pretty important here though. Don't go with something cheap since some brands are known to be crap quality. I suggest Asus, MSI or Gigabyte. Anything else is up to and some prayers.
HDD: Anything 500GB P2,000
One Terabyte is about 1,000 more. If you really want the 1TB you can choose a lower graphics card and a less reliable brand in motherboard. Or you can stretch the budget to about 31k or ask for a discount on some of the prices. Brand? Seagate or Maxtore. I personally had some trouble with Seagate since my 500gb failed and had to replace it. Just saying.
Monitor: Samsung EX1920X LED 19" P6,500
To be exact its 18.5 but common thats 19". You can drop the price a bit if you switch to LCD. What's the difference? Not much really. LED is said to be more environment friendly and consumes less on the power side. Samsung is a great brand for me it almost always lasts very long. Your choice whether to go with a different brand just don't go with the cheaper brands since known brands have great and proven awesome picture quality.
Current Total: 25,900 lets round that out to 26,000
What else?
DVD Drive 1,200
Generic Casing with PSU 1,500
Keyboard+Mouse 800
Current Total: 29,500 or something close to that.
I'd like to really suggest a branded power supply (PSU) but thats an extra 3,200. A Windows 7 OEM (orig of course) 4,000-4,700 depends on which one you get. Please get a decent keyboard mouse. A4tech as great ones at a cheap price.
So there you have it. A pc that can max out a lot of games with your 19" monitor. To those who may not be familiar with pc specs, It's graphics are prettier than a ps3 or xbox 360 with the right game.

Quick Repost: So The Ipod Touch's Camera is Crap
I have to admit I love my iPod touch. It's a smartphone without the phone part. Without going into detail it's a great piece of device for the price (Around 11-13k mall price).
If you don't have one yet and you're planning to get one, be sure to read around. If you want an iPod with a great OS (the iOS for those who don't know what to call it) it's perfect with a bunch of great apps. Maybe you've even heard that the new generation of iPod Touch will have a camera. Yes but don't expect much.
I browsed the review of the camera and to put it simply. It's crap. Your 13k-17k Nokia phone probably has a better camera than the iPod Touch's. I won't bore you with much technical details but really it's almost the same camera as those found in phones that range around 5-8k (yes those VGA ones). My old n73 can shoot way better photos.
See the photos for yourself (link to the article below). I'm not saying the iPod Touch isn't an awesome gadget, on the contrary. I'm just saying if your getting it because it has a camera, don't get your hopes up.

Pimp Your Desktop #1: Where to Get Awesome Wallpapers
Anyway, in Pimp Your Desktop articles, I'm going to show you tips and tricks on how to create that desktop you want. In later articles, I'm going to show you some nifty programs like rocketdock and rainmeter so you can get a cool desktop with everything you need. I'll also show you how I got my desktop to look like this.
(Yes I know there are three clocks, so what?)
Part 1: Getting a cool Wallpaper.
The first and easiest step to getting a great desktop is of course a great wallpaper. You may be stuck with your regular Windows XP "mountain wallpaper" but fret not! Here's a bunch of sites where you can get whatever wallpaper your heart desires.
Abduzeedo-Graphic Designs
http://abduzeedo.com/ is probably one of the best places to get graphic wallpapers. They regularly feature wallpapers, artists and my personal favorite, photoshop tutorials. Check it out if you like graphic wallpapers. Direct Link to Wallpapers section: http://abduzeedo.com/tags/wallpaper
Although everything there is worth a right-click-save-as, here are a few of my personal favorites.
TIP:Click the images to get to the page where you can download them.
DeviantArt-Everything
http://www.deviantart.com/ is probably almost a social networking site for artists and wannabe artists. It's a great place to be inspired. There are literally millions of artists here. Since it's more of a gallery per artist rather than a compilation of works there's really no wallpaper section but here's the next best thing: http://browse.deviantart.com/photography/?q=wallpaper and click on the left side which category you'd like. (Photography for example)
Edit: My bad. It does have a wallpaper section http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/wallpaper/ and to think I've been a member since forever lol.
Vlad Studio-Graphic/Cartoony
http://www.vladstudio.com/wallpapers/ could you imagine that everything here is just from one artist? There's a lot of great stuff and it's available at all the possible resolutions designed on this planet earth. Definitely worth a visit.
MiniTokyo-Anime
http://www.minitokyo.net/ When I was still heavily watching anime, this was one of my favorite places to get wallpapers. They have a lot of wallpapers so feel free to browse it. They also have scans and indy art if your interested in that. You may have to register to download though (can't remember).

Food Review: Go Greek! Kebab
The review format is in an easy to read what-I-liked-what-I-hated format. I then give a rating out of five out of the probability that my taste buds would like to be entertained by the same food again.
Go Greek! Kebab
Location: Glorietta 4 Food Court/Place/Palace/Mansion/Haven
Store Picture (courtesy of 5 mins of google since I couldn't find a company website) and
Actual Picture of Food (courtesy of my trusty Nikon D40):
I've never tried Greek food before. It's easy to find Japanese, Korean, Italian, Chinese and American food all around malls but Greek food is a bit more uncommon. So I've been curious about Greek food for a while wondering what makes it different from other countries. According to wikipedia, Greek cuisine makes wide use of oils, herbs and various meats. They also use olives, cheese and some other food I'm having a hard time to spell.
Surprisingly enough, what I ordered in "Go Greek!" had those ingredients mentioned. And they say wikipedia wasn't accurate. Included in the kebab meal was rice, kebab of your choice (lamb, chicken, fish, steak, some other animal I can't remember), a salad side and 2 sauces.
On to the review.
What I liked:
Kebab or OKAYBOB (silent o): I hate to use the term perfectly grilled but it is the most apt description. It doesn’t feel under or overcooked. Just right. The meat is very juicy too. Pretty big pieces too.
Cheese Sprinkled Salad?: I'm not the one who usually orders salads but hey it's included in the meal so why not try it? I don't think I've tried salad with cheese-like sprinkles on it. It definitely suits the salad since it gives a nice texture to the food.
2 Sauces made from Awesomeness: In the actual meal picture you'd think one part of the plate was empty but fret not! It's actually a white sauce. I don't know what the hell it's called and I don't really care. The white sauce tastes like the same white shawarma sauce [citation needed].I don't know where it's supposed to be used since my meal came with no instruction manual. I tried it on the salad. What an great combination. Who would have thought those two things could ever be combined? Definitely not me. If your wondering what the other sauce is, I also don't know what it’s called. It’s a sweet green alien-goo looking sauce with foreign food bits. Its awesomely matched with the meat on the kebab.
Feeling Light: I don't mean that it's in microscopic portions. The combination of food is a great meal that makes you full without the eat-all-you-can guilt. Most of the everything is in the right portion for me.
What I hated:
Restaurant Price: Even if that food is that awesome, 195 (and above for the other possible hard to pronounce food) is too much for me. 200 range is the starting restaurant/it-deserves-its-own-separate-store price for me and this isn't it. It's a freaking stall! At least have your own store so I can feel a bit better about the price tag.
More meat on the Kebab Please: I'm not too much of a this-is-my-last-meal-on-earth kind of guy but I love a lot of huge portions of meat since I think that's what I pay for the most. The kebab needs to be extended buy a few more inches with more meat or possibly less whatever that was.
Tomatoes: Man do I hate tomatoes. I cannot stand it's watery icky texture.
Whatever Vegie/Fruit/Alien substance was in the kebab: What is that anyway? Reminds me of tomatoes.
Final Thoughts:
With that my I've finally had a glimpse of Mediterranean food. It's pretty darned good. I'd love to try it again and I do recommend it to you dear reader if you want to try something different. The price tag is a bit high but worth it.

Food Review: Tapa King
The review format is in an easy to read what-I-liked-what-I-hated format. I then give a rating out of five out of the probability that my taste buds would like to be entertained by the same food again.
Today's Review: Tapa King's Tapa Prince
Menu Picture (courtesy of Tapa King Website) vs Actual Picture
Tapsilog or any silog for that mater is a very Pinoy breakfast. Contrary to what your grandparents tell you, eating an egg a day is totally ok and won't send your cholesterol levels through the roof.
What I liked:
Sweet Tapa: The tapa is nicely cooked in pieces of just the right size. I'm not a fan of the usual maalat tapa so this is just right up my alley. I can't be too sure whether it was soaked in a sauce or some sort of oil. The size is not too long, not too short and at just the right thickness and definetly not to the rubbery kind.
Atchara: What the hell is this thing anyway? I don't usually like it but Tapa King's version has just the right amounts of sweetness and was that a tad bit of sour aftertaste. Whatever. It's not the "eww vegetable" kind usually found everywhere atachara is served.
Sunny Side Up: I'm very picky on how sunny side up eggs are cooked. I don't like it a tad raw where the egg yolk looks like its going to flood the whole plate. I also hate it overcooked where the egg looks like a piece of 5-year-old plastic toy. It has to be perfectly cooked in that it doesn't look OR taste oily. It has to have that nice bit of crispy burnt layer below and the yolk is just in between solid and liquid form.
What I hated:
Expensive: This whole package comes at 125. That is some expensive tapsilog and it doesn't even have drinks yet. I can't say if it's at the right price because Tapa King is not a higher end fastfood chain nor a restaurant. This doesn't make it something you'd like to eat every few days.
Needs Coffee: For 125 that should have included some coffee and it would have been perfect with the meal. Everybody loves some coffee in the morning.
Final Thoughts:
Definitely some a great Brunch. If you hadn't had breakfast and just about to eat your lunch, the price tag is justified. It's more of a craving food you'd eat once every few lazy Sundays after waking up at about 11am.

Photography:70 GigaPixel Shot! Worlds Largest Photo
http://70gigapixel.cloudapp.net/
Damn.
Warning: Your computer might slow down a bit when loading the interactive awesomeness on the site. It uses Microsoft Silverlight which you may have to install. Have fun zooming in and out.
My Nikon D40 is 6 megapixel and it's already decades old feature-wise compared to even most digital cameras today. After seeing this amazing shot of Budapest and seeing the gear they used to take it, my gear feels so ancient like a world war 1 bayonet versus a lightsaber.
I won't expound the techtalk on the camera gear because you won't probably understand it. I will let this picture describe it. Link to the picture.
News: 100m Facebook User Account Information for Download
If you haven't heard the news already, there's a 2.8gb torrent available on piratebay which contains account information on Facebook. The good news is that these accounts are set to public so no need to worry if you've got everything on private.
If you somehow don't know how fiddle with your privacy settings, on the left side of your home page you can see your name under it "Edit My Profile" click it and below the few tabs you'll see a privacy settings link. I recommend just setting everything to friends only but it's your choice on what you want.
More on the news itself, some people from major companies are downloading these information. Interesting..

Tech: How To Run Almost Any Program On Startup
Note: This would extend your startup time by more or less few seconds. I suggest reading this guide. Disable things you don't need to run. Here's the link. Speed Up Your Computer: How To Disable Start Up Programs
For the example I'm going to show you how to run Firefox on start up.
Step 1: Find Your Program and Make a Shortcut
Your probably a disorganized mess. It may seem that your wallpaper is composed of hundreds of desktop shortcut icons. Don't worry. I don't care. Moving on, find your program or a shortcut. Usually its cluttered in your desktop. Let's make another shortcut. How exciting! *sarcasm*
Right-click the program/shortcut and choose create shortcut. Wonderfully demonstrated with the illustration below.
Step 2: Find the Start Up Folder
I think it will be safe to assume you know where the start/windows button is. Now locate that fancy-pants button and navigate to All Programs>Start Up which is again fancifully demonstrated in another image below. PROTIP: It's the highlighted blue folder in the picture. PROTIP 2: Right-Click and choose Open.
Step 3: Open the Folder and Paste the Shortcut
Now copy the shortcut you made by right-clicking and copy then pasting it in the startup folder. I don't need an image or video for that do I?
Congratulations! You just made a program run on start up. So the next time you boot your computer. It'll magically run immediately if you followed the very complex steps mentioned above.
Updates!
Updating the whole look of the blog with the new blogger appearance thingy. It's cool.

Let's Talk About: Takuyaki
Let's Talk About column answers your most perplexing questions about a certain topic. Feel free to contact me for suggestions on topics.
What is this Takuyaki you speak of?
Takuyaki is a street food originating from (you guessed it!) Japan. It almost looks as if it belongs to the array of Filipino street food but it doesn't. It's very different from what we usually see and eat.
What is it made of exactly?
It's made from Japanese people!
Really?
No. It's actually a fried octopus. Traditionally, the batter is made up of diced baby octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger and green onion. It's topped with okonomiyaki sauce, ponzu, evil high calorie mayonaise and fish shavings.
Locally, expect to see this combination (esp with uber cheap ones): A fried ball like creation and in the center a variation of diced octopus, a bunch of veggies and topped with mayo and a sauce you can not tell the name of.
Is it good?
I would say it's a hate it/love it affair. Personally, I like it. It tastes grate from the "quality" stalls and tastes like ubber rubbery crap from cheap ones. I would like to taste an authentic one though. So if anyone would care to sponsor an all-expense-paid trip to Japan, I'd be glad to give you a more accurate review.
Where can I try this?
Fortunately for you and me, we don't have to go to Japan to try this funky creation. It's now locally available in a variety of stalls nationwide.
How can I now if the stall has "quality" takuyaki?
There is no exact formula for this one. The only guide I can give you is to follow "you get what you pay for" line. Better quality stalls go for about 40 pesos per 3-4 peices. Don't expect a great for with the 20 pesos 4 peices one.
Stall Feature:
Name: Maru-Maru
Food: "Authentic" Takuyaki, Yakisoba, Etcetera
Price: 39/60/90 i think for 3/6/9 Pieces respectively
Comments: Pretty good takuyaki. I would rank it 2nd among the takuyaki's I tried.

How to: Get Free Pizza When You Enroll
1. Prepare a BPI atm/credit or whatever card
Got an atm card? Good. Instead of bringing buckets load of cash during enrollment day put it in your account by simply going to a teller at the bank or you can use your mom/dad/whoever is sponsoring your education's bank card.
2. Enroll
You know this right? (In my friend's angry Chinese voice) You've been doing it for years now. You know how to do this. Since the average down payment is 20,000 pesos (based on no scientific research) your sure to get a free pizza.
3. Pay using BPI card
The great thing about using a card instead of cash is that you don't have to fill up forms. Oh and the line is shorter. Just put in the pin when prompted to and your good to go. Don't forget the receipt.
4. Go to a Participating Pizzahut Resto or Bistro
Conveniently located below step 6.
5. Show the Receipt and Card
Just give it to the cashier tell them you want your free pizza. Give them the receipt. Sign something. And wait for 10-15 mins.
6. Enjoy your free Pizza.
The only thing better than pizza is free pizza. So enjoy :)
Stuff you can exchange for receipts:
Supreme Buddy Pan Pizza or Caesar Salad for 1,500 peso receipt.
Fettuccini Ala King or Spaghetti Bolognese for a 3,000 peso receipt.
Family Supreme Pan Pizza for 7,000 peso receipt.
Much love to the people at BPI :)

Poetry: Let It Be You and Me
Let's stop the world from turning
Take my hand and never let go
Let's get away from all of this
Share with me a moment of bliss
We won't waste time
Let's get closer and closer
Let's turn every moment into forever
I'll never let them tear us apart
I won't give you my word
But I'll give you my heart
Believe for a second
That it's meant to be
What only matters will be you and me

How You Can Be Hacked
You have the Same Username-Password for Everything
Your email address, facebook account, twitter probably has the same username password. Now what about your banking, school site or numerous other websites you registered?
You've also probably never thought about the idea of being hacked. I know I never did. Well, until in some bizarre way my 1st email address (one I still use today) sent numerous emails to my contacts and gave links to virus sites. So I wondered how the hell did that happen since I never gave my username/password to anyone except for registering for numerous websites.
Viewing a forum, placing a comment, even just viewing an article in sites requires a registration. You never gave much thought about it but what if I had you register to this site. You'd probably use your facebook username/password and then read this.
Now, let's say I had nothing to do. Being the administrator I tried your username/password in facebook. Oh think of all the things I could do.
Access to All Your Accounts
Scared yet? What if I tried this in yahoo, gmail, hotmail and got in? Now I can see some of the sites you registered for even that bank account.
Here are some easy basic tips on how not to get hacked:
Create a Dummy account
Don't have one account for everything. Create 2 new email addresses. Create the first one for business/school/personal things. Use this ONLY for those purposes. Yes that's in all caps as in I'm screaming that word right now. What would be the benefits? The biggest benefit is convenience. When your expecting an email from a friend sending that important project you need to print and you can't find it since you have a thousand unread emails in your inbox what do you do?
Those thousand emails are probably from the sites you registered to but never really used often like when you wanted to read an article from girlyfashionmagazine.com/forum/topic/top-20000-reasons-your-fat.
The other email account (don't obviously use the same password) is for registering all your crap. Feel free to load everything in this account since your not really going to use it. And don't save any contacts even the your other email addresses.
Think of At Least 3 sets of Usernames/Passwords
Remember the theory. We don't want everything to be accessed with a single username/password. So besides having a dummy email account here's a good practice think of a couple of combination of usernames/passwords. And you can make it easy to remember without being complicated. Think of a theme. For example:
Theme: Hunger
user: gustokongkumain password: pengefoodmen
user: gutomnaakoshet password: palimospagkain
user: pakaininmoako password: lunchnaba
Think of a theme, create 2-3 sets and use it interchangeably on different sites.
Create a Strong Password
This is an amazing informative article http://onemansblog.com/2007/03/26/how-id-hack-your-weak-passwords/ but a rather long one. Most of the things I mentioned in this article is discussed there thoroughly.
For the love of god, don't use a "dictionary password". What is a dictionary password? As the name implies its a word that you used as your password that's easily in the dictionary.
Hackers could hack that in a few hours or even minutes. Hackers can use a technique called a "brute force" or basically trying every word in the dictionary. (They can also try your birthdays, family names, etc).
Here's a nice graph on how fast Hacker's can get your password.

Password Length | All Characters | Only Lowercase |
---|---|---|
3 characters 4 characters 5 characters 6 characters 7 characters 8 characters 9 characters 10 characters 11 characters 12 characters 13 characters 14 characters | 0.86 seconds 1.36 minutes 2.15 hours 8.51 days 2.21 years 2.10 centuries 20 millennia 1,899 millennia 180,365 millennia 17,184,705 millennia 1,627,797,068 millennia 154,640,721,434 millennia | 0.02 seconds .046 seconds 11.9 seconds 5.15 minutes 2.23 hours 2.42 days 2.07 months 4.48 years 1.16 centuries 3.03 millennia 78.7 millennia 2,046 millennia |
A Bunch of Interesting Tips for a stronger password:
1. Use a jEjE password
Because of their use of utter undecipherable words, they make great passwords. Change that e into a 3, change that o into a zero, use both lower and uppercase while abusing the shift key.
2. Be creative
Instead of just using your name in your password, why don't you try to be creative. For example instead of kris try passwordnikris.
3. Use tagalog
I don't think there is a dictionary brute force based on tagalog since programmers hate tagalog. We can't even imagine a tagalog programming language. We get nightmares from even thinking that. So if you had a tagalog password it would be hard to recognize for foreigners. Example password: isawatbalut or sinigangnaadobo
4. Make It almost a Sentence
I know it's hard to think of just a specific thing or place or name so here's another option. Think of a sentence. Let's say "Pogi ako bukas". Turn it into a password. Password: pogiakobukas Easy to remember and based on the chart above it'll take at least 3 millennia.
5. Long Passwords is a Must
As we can see from above it takes longer amount of time to hack a password the longer it is. Why? A simple explanation is that the more characters the more possibilities there are. With this in mind, remember to make your password a long one.
After you created your password, try it here http://www.microsoft.com/uk/protect/yourself/password/checker.mspx to see how secure it is.
Trying it Out:
Getting those tips in mind. Lets try an example:
The elections is over so let's use it as a theme.
1. Green ang color ni Gibo (theme and tagalog)
2. greendawsigibo (modified, long password 14 char)
3. gr33ndAwSig1B0 (jEjEmonizing it)
Now according to microsoft it's the best password.
Last example:
1. Nokia N73 ang cellphone ko (theme, tagalog)
2. nokian73cpko (long password 12 char)
3. n0kIaN73cPk0 (jEjEmonizing it)
It's not as good as the first example but its still a strong password.
Conclusion:
Hope you learned something here and try it out yourself. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Or some fancy quote like that.

Movie Review: Iron Man 2
Today we have Iron Man 2 up for review.
Plot: Tony Stark is under fire because his suit is considered a weapon. The government wants to take it. Some villain wants to get revenge. He saves the world (Well OK so maybe just a city). The avengers recruitment is in between all of this. That's basically all you need to know about it.
Just a brief background. *Breathes In* I watched this at SM Manila for 160. Maybe a reason why I'm even more disappointed with the film. A hundred freakin' sixty pesos for a terrible cinema. I mean it looks more like a theater than a cinema. It isn't even that dark (No, not for couples). Having a dark cinema is essential for focusing on the film. Greenbelt cinema charges 170. Glorietta 4 charges 130-150. I'd have rather watched it there than the crap that is SM Manila's cinema. Did I mention someone was snoring the whole time I was watching? *Breathes out*
What I liked:
Laser-thingy Whips are Badass: Whiplash is a decent villain with a very awesome weapon. Whips have been used a zillion times already but making it sparkly, lethal-as-hell and giving it a tad of "scientific" explanation just makes it badass.
Oh, I want that too: There was a lot of moments, I wish I had the same technology in my room. The suitcase armor is definitely an awesome thing to have at home or on the go. The Artificial Intelligence running Tony Stark's lab is something I want to upgrade to after Windows Vista.
Robert Downey, Jr: The whole film may not be excellent but Robert Downey Jr still acts excellently. I think he portrays the humanity of an Iron Man/Tony Stark quite well.
Humor: There's still a nice amount of humor in the film. It was presented well too.
What I hated:
Whiplash is not awesome: His character was built to be a super villain. He's smart and can obviously create badass weapons. He's out for revenge. Later in the film, he gets all the resources he needs to battle Tony Stark. Even with all this, I never felt a strong character in him. I never felt that in anytime in the film that he was an awesome villain. Maybe I never saw the potential that he could actually defeat Iron Man and you just need that to add a bit more suspense in the film. Being the only real opposing character to Iron Man, it's just a big let down.
Iron Man was never gonna lose: At anytime during the film, I never felt that Iron Man even had the hint of losing. The idea of seeing your lead character about to lose adds a great level of suspense to the film. Too bad, Iron Man 2 didn't have it.
Too Short: What was the time for the movie? An hour and forty five? I forgot. It seemed really short though. Maybe it was good since it wasn't a great movie.
Was that it?: Besides being too short, the story doesn't seem to be that interesting. It was over before any of the plot/sub-plots got interesting.
What was the plot again?: We have the US government trying to get Tony Stark to surrender the suit; Tony Stark about to die; Tony Stark and the Avengers and the Whiplash revenge plot. But where was the really interesting or most developed one? I don't think there was one.
We want more explosions: While I think the movie is trying to tell a bunch of different stories, there was not too much action scenes all in all. There wasn't even one that really stood out. There wasn't an oh-shit-awesome-explosion moment at all. The only interesting action scene was when the F1 was sliced into two. And that lasted for what? 3 secs.
There was no Climax: Climax is defined to be a point of great interest. I didn't find it. The last battle where Iron Man and War Machine was against Whiplash wasn't epic. It was like okay. That's it? It needed to be longer and more exciting. It needed to be awesome but it wasn't.
Conclusion:
It's definitely worth a watch to see Robert Downey Jr's interesting character portrayal in Iron Man. It's cool to watch all the fancy gizmo and some action scenes but don't expect a comic book movie as great as The Dark Knight. There isn't quite as much as powerful conflict or story in this one.
Rating:
Overall, I give it, 2.5 dancing iron-man uniformed cheerleaders out of 5.
Note 1: After reading a bunch of reviews online, one common thing I found was that they agreed to the fact that there was a lot of action. Maybe there was a lot. Maybe I would have reviewed the film better if I was in a better cinema and with a better audience (I felt the guy's snoring was part of the soundtrack already). Maybe I should have watched it in 3D.
Note 2: Are physicists really great programmers too?

Let's Talk About Ice Scramble
Image courtest of http://www.giantcrush.com/
What is exactly is ice scramble?
Ice scramble, scramble, iskrambol, or even "iCe xRAMBleZ" is a Filipino street food. It's along the lines of sago/gulaman as a palamig or a drink created to beat the radioactive Philippine heat.
What's it made of?
I'm guessing the ingredients goes something like crushed ice, food coloring, and skim milk. For it's sweetness obviously there's sugar or a substitute. Oh and to make it more sinful there's chocolate syrup and sometimes marshmallows on top.
Is it awesome?
Yes.
Why is it awesome?
The creaminess of the shaved ice is a start. The addition of skim milk creates something that complements the creaminess of the shaved ice. Oh and how can we ever say no to chocolate syrup? It won't even cost you a leg or an arm. The average price of a cup of scramble is a measly 10 pesos.
So is it like ice cream?
No, definitely not. It should have it's own definition in the dictionary. I'd say it's a mix of ice cream, shake and whatever has syrup and marshmallows.
Where can I try this?
Unfortunately for you and me, the target audience of manongs and manangs are children. They're more common in front of elementary schools than your fancy-pants university. There is good news though. Recently, there have been food stalls in malls serving this one-of-a-kind awesomeness.
What should I watch out for when eating this so called "ice scramble"?
Besides the sugar rush, if you purchase it from the street entrepreneurs you should be ready for anything. You never know if the ice they use is safe. If your adventurous try it and if not just find it in a mall near you.
Stall Name: Ice Breakers
Sells scramble for 7, 10 or 17 pesos. Additional toppings go for about 4 pesos. Try it!
SM Manila 3rd Floor near Mcdonald's I think.

Food Review: KFC's Wow Steak
The review format is in an easy to read what-I-liked-what-I-hated format. I then give a rating out of five out of the probability that my taste buds would like to be entertained by the same food again.
Menu Picture (courtesy of KFC PH site) :
Actual Picture (with a crap cam phone):
As a food lover, one of my favorite things to eat is chicken. It can be tasty anyway you cook it. I'm not too sure if it tastes good uncooked though and I don't want to know. Anyway, today we have a fried variation pretending to be a steak.
What I liked:
Price: With it's 55-60 peso price tag, (Depends on the greediness of your local KFC stall) it's hard not to try. If you don't feel like shelling out about 80+ pesos for the 1 piece original with rice then this is the next best thing. It's probably the most affordable chicken and rice meal in KFC.
Mushroom Sauce: I've been a fan of Jollibee's Burger Steak since it premiered in Jollibee's ever growing menu. The KFC variation of this sauce isn't as good though. It suits the chicken but in no way is it awesome. 95% of people prefer KFC's gravy though only 5% notice that the two sauces are actually different. Yes it's not the same.
What I hated:
Chicken: Contrary to actual steaks, the chicken is deep fried. Steaks are supposed to be grilled or at least pan fried. If you take a minute and inspect the chicken, its not even fillet (I think). It looks like a bunch of chicken fiber glued together to form one piece of chicken. The taste? Well it tastes like chicken. Nothing special.
Crispiness: Steaks aren't supposed to be crispy! This confuses me really. Why make it crispy when you're going to put sauce in it? No, we're not talking about dipping it in gravy. Putting sauce in it defeats the purpose of the crispiness because it wouldn't be crispy after 5 mins in that sauce.
KFC: The whole ordeal of actually attempting to order in KFC is more like waiting for Christmas. The line may not seem long but it's simply a deception. KFC compared to Mcdonald's is like comparing an F1 to a bike. It's that slow. Oh did I mention, the staff seems to be on slow-mo? No offense to anyone but really it would be nice if you could please give me my order within a 1-2 mins and not freakin' months.
Rant: SM Manila Branch KFC's customers seem to be the most uncivilized KFC customers, ever. Why on earth would someone leave a spoon with gravy in it in the holder thingy. Really why? Can't you just take it with your tray and get another spoon? Effin' Jerk.
Final Thoughts:
It's far from great and it's light years from awesome. The only thing that's going for it is the price. So overall, I don't like it but if I feel like just eating something for the sake of eating, this is decent enough. They should have really just renamed it to Supposed-to-be-steak-but-it's-really-not-Chicken-with-mushroom-sauce but I guess that wouldn't really fit in their menu.
Rating: 1.5 Chickens out of 5
